Vigilance

As I  was  sitting  on  the  beach  yesterday I  was  watching a  young  family  play  in  the  crashing  waves. I  couldn't  help  but  hear  the  anxious  mom  warning  her  son's  of  the  current  and  power of the  ocean.  The  boys  played  for  hours  dashing  in  and  out pausing  only  at  the  calls  from  mom  to  be  careful  or come  get  some  more  sunscreen  on.
The  good  mom's  vigilant  efforts  were  clear:  safety  first.      Think
of  how  often  you  prioritize  safety.  Seatbelts.  Crossing  the  street (I  still  hear  my  mom's voice ... look  both  ways... with  her  armpit  death  grip  on  me.) Locking  your  doors,  stranger  danger... the  list  goes  on  and  on.  But  what  about  our  health  and  the  precautions  we  take?
Do  we  just  keep  eating  junk,  poisoning  ourselves  with  sugar  and  chemicals  just  expecting  our  bodies  to  take  it?  Where's  our  vigilance?
If you're  proactive  in  other  ways  for  yourself why  not  what  you  eat  or  put  on  yourself  too?  Look  both  ways  on a  menu  or  list  of  ingredients.Do  you  see  the  danger  coming  toward  you  or  are  you  just  hoping  that  it  is  far  enough  away  that  you  can " make it."
You  would  never  feel  deprived  of  the  experience  of a  car  hitting  you.   Face  your health  with  the  same  vigilance.  You  aren't  depriving  yourself.   You're  saving  yourself  from  the  sugar,  caffeine,  chemical bus  that's  heading  your  way.
Keep  looking  both  ways  and  be  vigilant!
